Art Deco studio in Montevideo, transforming the space into a terrain of fragmented reflection and perceptual shifts. At its core, Aphex Arcan disrupts the symmetry of the original fireplace with a sprawling shattered mirror intervention that splinters light, space, and self-image—evoking a state of ongoing transformation. In the styling area, three totemic sculptures crafted from raw concrete and mirrored surfaces rise to 260 cm, echoing brutalist forms while resonating with the studio’s geometric elegance. Each piece is handmade, with intention. In the clay, time leaves its trace, what is felt becomes solid, fire keeps the secret of the invisible. They are created in transit: uprooting and situated learning leave their trace, mapping an affective geography that binds them together.Inspired by an array of ancestral practices, by reverie, and the flow of the inner world, this project honors the body as an archive, matter as a language, and gesture a way of being. Invisible Unquiet Bodies Still Silent A landscape of fragmented bodies and persistent memories takes shape through bodily imprints, voice and material. Invisible Unquiet Bodies, Still Silent brings together sculptures cast from the artist’s own body and remnants of textiles explore how experiences of abandonment, loss, and transformation become inscribed in form and survive through repetition. Situated between performance and installation, the work approaches the body as both archive and site of resistance, revealing tensions between vulnerability, silence, and reconstruction. Developed as Manuela Vilanova’s Master’s graduation project, the work was presented at Het Bos residency gallery in Antwerp and brought together Manuela Vilanova, Carly Rae Heathcote, Miguel fragments recovered from past fires. Developed during the Ponte d'Arte residency in Portugal, Parque Gentil inhabits the grounds of a rural house as a landscape of quiet transformations, where natural and fabricated elements coexist in states of fragility and renewal. Conceived as a work in progress, the installation reflects on how personal and collective experiences become embedded within place. Developed during the isolation of 2020, the project unfolds through two evolving compositions where Uruguayan wildlife field recordings, Gregorian chants, spoken word, and ethereal hardware synthesizers merge into a fluid sonic ecology suspended between memory, distance, and imagined landscapes. Released by DreamShore, the physical edition—now sold out—combined silver cassette tapes housed in hand-sculpted ceramic cases with a folded poster, extending the work into a tactile sculptural object.
